Gingham & Polka Dots

Top: (actually a dress, shh) Revolve | Skirt: old, h&m (similar) | Jacket: Forever21 | Shoes: Jessica Simpson | Necklace: c/o CS Gems use code ‘Sugar15’ | Lipstick: Mac Flat Out Fabulous
InStyle’s “You Can Do” feature on gingham really inspired me to add a new pattern into my wardrobe. As the article said, gingham has a youthfulness to it, therefore making it a little tricky to wear as an adult. I’ve always been into pattern mixing but steer clear of gingham because it always looks too much like something I would have worn fifteen years ago. By adding a simple gingham pattern like this pink one (Revolve), pairing it with a mature but fun skirt (h&m) and toning it down with a simple jean jacket (Forever21), I feel comfortable wearing this without feeling like it is wearing me. This outfit pairing perfectly shows off my style, polished with a pop of fun and flirt.
Add some fun patterns to your outfits that you’re not used to! It’s a super fun change and I guarantee you’ll love it!

Hiking & Albion Fit

Leroy wanted to get in on the fun too!
Capris : c/o Albion Fit | Top: Fabletics | Sneakers: Under Armour

There is nothing more hilarious than trying to look “fabulous” while on a hike through the woods, but with Albion and their “Go Capri” you can’t really not look fabulous… I am definitely a huge proponent of yoga pants. Yes, I may be a fashion blogger but I love my comfort. When I am running errands or making a quick trip somewhere I like to throw on a good pair of yoga pants or capris. Now with these Antiqua Cobalts even at my most comfortable, I also look fashionable. It’s the best of both worlds for a girl like me. Also they are really stiff- which at first I was weary about but then I realized my biggest complaint with yoga pants are they stretch out by the time I am done with my run or workout. These don’t do that! They stay their shape and it is a miracle. I never want to own another pair of leggings- why would I?

Now for the best part!? You and your best friend can win a pair, each! Hop on over to my Instagram @SugarByLindsay

Blogger Tips & Polette Review

I am going to do a little something different and new today on Sugar & Something. I am going to start out with some ‘business’ and tips and close it out with something more, a review on these totally sassy glasses! There is a little something for everyone!!
Eyewear: c/o Polette
I am coming up on my year of fashion and lifestyle blogging. I have actually been blogging a lot longer that a year, but this is my new journey. It has taken me this entire year, and probably will continue to take time, to perfect my organization when it comes to my blog. It is hard! Working with brands, keeping up with post expectations, giveaways, collaborations, networking, etc. It takes much more time that I seem to have in any given day to keep Sugar & Something on track. So I have come up with some little helpful tips that I have picked up along the way:
1. Keep a Calendar! I started with a To Do list and that quickly become way too long to keep. Any type of calendar. I use my iCalendar on my Mac. I schedule posts about 2 weeks ahead of time and make sure if anything changes I record the change. I can’t be expected to remember everything in my blog life, work life and social life- so I write it down.
2.  Be sure of your brand! I can’t tell you how difficult it is to change your brand up down the road. I started as a DIY, crafting, baking blog and now am almost 100% fashion. Changing that was So difficult. My readers and audience changed, my branding changed and the way I went about everything in the backend of my blog changed. I am glad I made the change but going for what I really wanted all along would have been so much easier from the get go- then rebranding! Trust me. It’s a lot of work.
3. Be transparent. This one is something I only recently started to be concerned about. When I first started blogging I was so about working with brands and companies because I thought it would make me a “real” blogger. Now I am the first one to step up and back up my brand. I only accept the best from my readers and will not put something on my blog that I am not comfortable with. Going along with that I am the first one to email my concerns to the company. You would be surprised how appreciative they are and want to hear REAL feedback.
Now onto the fun with these glasses! You can’t tell me these aren’t the sassiest pieces of eyewear you’ve ever seen!
I don’t know if you know this about me but I collect glasses. In every shape, size, color, etc. I love reading glasses, sunglasses, everything. The great thing about companies like Polette is you can have this glasses addiction like I do- but your wallet won’t feel the pain. I can’t get over this company. A lot of discount eyewear companies have very minimal selections too- but they have so many adorably chic styles! Now I won’t be posting a million pictures of me sporting these glasses (this time) because I’ll be honest, I look like a total hipster. But I love them and they are so comfortable! But that is the great part of Polette! Even if these particular pairs aren’t the ones for me…I can go try another pair that are!
The Polette team is such a pleasure to work with. They strive to make sure their consumers are happy. It is seldom to run across a company that is so on top of communication but they really are. When it took a little longer that I expected for delivery they were available to check on the status in a moments notice and keep me updated. That is a company that I want to continue a relationship with!

Stripes & Spring (+ Giveaway!)

Win this necklace! Find out below!

Top: c/o A T Avenue | Jeans: Gap | Booties: Nordstrom Rack (similar) | Clutch: Clare V | Necklace: WIN THIS from A T Avenue!
I have been seeing the cropped layered shirt trend around but I haven’t jumped on it simply because I never found the cropped sweater or top that I really loved as the top layer and I am one of those people that really tries not to spend the money if I don’t LOVE something. Well I saw this top and started drooling. It wasn’t just the top but it already came as a layered piece all in one! Really this is what dreams are made of. I think it’s getting a bit suspicious that I am trying to only hang out with different people everyday so I can continually re-wear it and no one will notice. #noshame. This top from A T Avenue has “layer me” written all over it too!
A T Avenue is possibly the most adorable boutique I have come across in a while. It has such unique items and they NEVER reorder so everything is so fresh and fun! Check out this AMAZING top! You really can’t go wrong with any of the pieces. Not only does the owner, Alexis, run the shop but she also blogs over at Alexis Teichmiller- Roads to Reflection! She has quickly become one of my favorite blogger gals to talk to. Keep an eye out for a guest post from her on Sugar & Something! It’s going to be a good one!! 🙂
Also these jeans are on constant repeat…if you couldn’t tell by my style post just a few days ago.  I am a huge advocate when I find a pair of jeans I love because I know the struggle of not finding your dream pair.
Plus this necklace! You can win it for yourself! Head over to my Instagram @SugarByLindsay to win it! It’s super easy 🙂

Summer & Bikinis

I have such a large collection of bikinis, it is starting to be concerning. I just always buy them, not matter the time of year. If I find one I love I can’t seem to bring myself to say no. I buy them in winter and fall for motivation to keep working out, and in spring and summer for the obvious reasons. I am ALWAYS on the hunt for a new one. I have a belief that a bikini is good for MAYBE 2 seasons and then after that they should be retired. I am sure that’s not a science, but I think 2 years is plenty. Therefore, I need a solid rotation so I always have ample amount to get me through the vacays, beach visits, and pool side hang outs.

I have an obsession with Triangl. They are the most secure bikinis out there and are absolutely perfect for the beach if you tend to do more than just tan. They are great for kayaking and paddle boarding, and anything that you are afraid to loose your bottoms on. But they also look super hot while being comfy and safe. I always have this concern. Both this Triangle and this one are absolutely killer. I can’t wait to order one!

Now I always go for Victoria Secret swimwear because of their decent price tags and ability to mix and match so many different colors while still coordinating pieces pretty perfectly. This VS is absolutely ADORABLE. I love how unique it is. While it probably isn’t the best for tan lines that doesn’t make it not amazing. This one is a bit more practical. It is small so makes tanning perfect which I always tend to lean towards. I wear my smallest bikini towards the beginning then switch to other ones when I have a good tan going 🙂

I have never owned an Aerie bikini until recently and I don’t know why it took me so long! I now have an addiction. It is seriously the most comfortable and flattering bikini I own, but also is a fraction of the price of each of the ones above. I can’t believe I have gone this long without owning one. The next one on my list is this one! So perfect!

Please share any of your favorites below! I am all ears in the next brand I should look towards!
